Mr. Shibasaka began eating at Trio Diner when he was twenty-six years old. The company he began working for happened to be located a few minutes by foot from the diner. He immediately began eating his lunch there. Mr. Shibasaka, who lived alone then, ate most of his meals at restaurants. It did not take long before he began eating not only his lunch but also his evening meals at Trio Diner. Soon, Hideo, the owner of the Diner, began calling on him to "Hang around while I close the store" when he stopped by in the evenings. Such nights, he shared drinks and a meal with Hideo and his wife Akemi. He got married ten years ago but still continues to eat his lunch at Trio Diner. He also drops by everyday for his afternoon snack. Mr. Shibasaka eating soft ice cream has become a familiar sight at the Trio Diner during summer.

Mr.Okamoto began eating at Trio Diner twelve years ago right after joining a transport company. "It takes a lot of energy to drive a truck," according to Mr. Okamoto. He is very careful about his health. The reason he comes to Trio Diner is because he is also conscious about his diet. "I get to select a nutritiously balanced meal here. When I feel I had too much fat that week, I would choose fish and sunomono salad. That’s how I control my diet." He always chooses a middle size serving of rice and tofu miso soup. Mr. Okamoto does not need to order his rice and miso soup since the part-sans would bring them to his usual table by the window upon seeing him enter the diner. Mr. Okamoto returns his favor by parking his truck elsewhere when showing up around noon time, for his truck takes up too much space of the diner’s parking lot.
