Jaey Limb _ age 30
Where do you come from?
I'm from Brisbane Queensland Australia.
Why did you come to Japan?
It was a dream of mine to come and work and live in Japan. I first experienced life in Japan when I was a high school student. I was able to travel to Fukushima Prefecture for a two week home-stay with a 75 year old grand mother and 80 year old grandfather. From here I got my yen to try life in Japan.
After graduating from high school I entered university where I studied education majoring in Japanese. From there I taught Japanese at two primary schools in Brisbane for about two years before finally moving to Osaka Japan.
How did you find your way to Kurashiki?
I was working in a large English conversation school for about three years when I realized that I wanted to get back to the classroom environment. So I started searching for a new job on the Internet. I came across the NET (Native English Teacher) program in Kurashiki. I have been teaching here since April 2006.
What are your impressions of Kurashiki?
Compared to the large metropolises of Japan I feel I can go about things at my own pace. I also feel the people of Kurashiki are more genuine than those of Osaka. Of course this is a generalization and I have made many good friends in both places as well as experienced many good amazing things.
What are you plans after Kurashiki?
After almost two years in Kurashiki, my fianc Judy and I have decided to go back to Brisbane and get married. Oh and at some stage look for a new job.
What is your favorite memory about Japan?
It's so hard to pick one memory. But, I think the thing I will remember the most is the rapport I built up with the teachers and students at Fukuda Junior High School.
What is your dream for the future?
My dream is to have a wonderful wedding and a happy and healthy family and hopefully a future without too many worries.
