It appears to be a normal bakery from outside. Inside the store, there is also nothing in particular. There seems to be nothing out of the ordinary in the selection of bread or the staff. However, there is a secret found nowhere in this world but here hidden in the breads baked at "Peynet" of Kojima.
Baking the bread is the owner Mr. Masahiro Kawaguchi (age 49). Mr. Kawaguchi’s other vocation is teaching aikido once a week in Kojima as an instructor of Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, one of the classifications of aikido. He also teaches Qi Gong classes. "I teach how to build qi used in aikido," says Mr. Kawaguchi. "Every living creature, not only human beings but also animals and plants, has its qi. With proper training, we are able to control that qi."
Gaining control of qi allows us to improve our physical conditions, increase our ability to concentrate, and sharpen our senses. What if this qi is directed outside instead of inside of you? This is where the secret of the bread comes in…
Last spring, Mr. Kawaguchi was standing in his kitchen trying to concentrate with the ingredients for bread-- flour, water, sugar and eggs-- in front of him. When his qi level reached maximum, he decided to direct it into the ingredients. He concentrated his mind again and sent his qi into the dough right before placing the loaves in the oven. The bread that came out tasted milder than usual! Bread baked at "Peynet" is the only bread in the world filled with qi from a master of aikido. Since then, Mr. Kawaguchi continues to direct his qi into the bread he bakes.
Favorable remarks come from customers. "Many agree that the taste of my bread has improved. I think qi gives mildness to it," Mr. Kawaguchi noted. Some comment that "Eating this bread cheers me up." The only way to confirm this is by actually trying the bread.
