>>What do you do for a living?
I’m Assistant Technician at Okayama University’s Research Institute for Bioresources. My research field is rice. Extracting and analyzing its DNA, for example.
>>Where were you born?
Tamashima, Kurashiki City. I went to college from my parents’ house, so I’ve spent all twenty-eight years of my life with my parents.
>>Tell us about your family.
My grandfather, parents, older brother, and younger sister. My brother has moved out, so there are five of us living together now. I love my family very much. My parents are a very compatible and enjoy life, and we always laugh together about silly things.
>>Do you like Kurashiki?
I used to hate it. Wanted to leave for a big city when I was a student. Kobe,or somewhere abroad. Today, I think that Kurashiki is the best. This is where my family lives. Living alone isn’t an option for me. I can’t stand loneliness.
>>How do you spend your day off?
I basically stay home and watch the DVDs that I have rented, or read a book. I also study English at times. I’ve been attending an English conversation school since year before last.
>>Where do you often go?
GERUZ, a leather shop in Mizushima. Another place is Shuby, a bar in Kurashiki, where I used to be a regular customer. I like to drink. I also visit Okinawa at least once a year. I’m basically not stress ridden, but when I find myself cornered, I go there on impulse. The ocean there is calming. Tamashima also faces the ocean, but here it “smells” of the sea, whereas in Okinawa there’s a pleasant “scent” of the ocean.
>>Where do you shop?
I buy my clothes in Kobe. I go down their each season to purchase all my denims for that season.
>>How would you describe yourself?
Pretty complex. I wish to maintain my cool, but always can’t.
